Shiseido, Estée Lauder, finalist in Drunk Elephant sale

M&As continue in the beauty business. Two cosmetics giants, Shiseido and Estée Lauder, are among the finalist in the Drunk Elephant sale process.

The cosmetics company could be worth around one billion dollars, according to WWD. The company operates in the United States through Sephora and is present in the United Kingdom through Space NK. The company made the leap to Asia recently, where it expects to generate 10% of its total sales.

The company is one of the leaders of the so-called clean beauty because it avoids the use of essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrance and dyes and SLS.

Drunk Elephant was founded by Tiffany Masterson in 2013 and is backed by VMG Partners, that took a minority stake in 2017. At that time, influencer Leandra Medine, the founder of the blog Man Repeller, also invested. The American company’s revenue was around 100 million dollars in 2018 fiscal year.
