Yeezy bets for its local market. The urban fashion company, owned by the singer and businessmen Kanye West, is aiming to take back its production to the United States by 2021. West, a supporter of Donald Trump, explained in an interview in a local radio station that he wants to create more jobs for Americans.
The company originally tried to produce its sneakers in a factory in Canoga, California, but it didn’t work. “Thirty percent of the machines were still in storage, and it was never built all the way to not have to go to China; so the team went to China to work on this boot and it’s still stuck in customs,” stated West.
Yeezy started as a collaboration with the German sportswear company Adidas in 2015 when they launched the Yeezy Season 1, its first sneaker model. Since then the company has launched more footwear, clothing and accessories.
