Canada Goose conquers second largest mall in the US: opens in Mall of America

Canada Goose expands in the US. The Canadian outerwear company has opened a store in Mall of America, the second biggest mall in the United States. The store is located in the first level west, next to stores like Macy’s, Banana Republic, Lululemon or Free People.

Canada Goose is specialized in extreme weather garments. Its store in Mall of America has the entire offer of the brand, including a Cold Room, where clients can put its jackets and parkas to the test in temperatures that dip to minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit.

The company, founded in 1957 in Toronto by Sam Tick, operates though wholesale and direct to consumer. Canada Goose started listing in the Toronto stock exchange in March 2017, where it priced its initial public offering of 20 million shares at 12.8 dollars per share. Its IPO raised to 255 million dollars on its first day, turning the company in the second biggest debut in 2017.

The Mall of America is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and it’s the second largest shopping mall in the United States in terms of total floor area, following the American Dream Meadows in New Jersey.

Opened in 1992, it has more than 5.6 million square feet and receives more than 40 million visitors per year. It has four levels, an aquarium, an inside amusement park, and cinemas and an offer of more than 520 stores.

Its currently under a phase of expansion that plans to host an extra 20 million visitors per year and expects to generate nearly 2 billion dollars in economic impact for the state. The expansion plan has space for 150 more stores.
