Inditex shrinks profitability at the verge of Brexit: cuts its profit by half in the UK
Zara owners’s profit before tax stood at 22.3 million pounds (28.9 million dollars) in the country in the first half of its fiscal year.
Inditex shrinks before Brexit. The Spanish fashion retailer, number one in the world by revenue, has reduced its profit before taxes in the United Kingdom in the first half of its fiscal year. Specifically, the group achieved 22.3 million pounds (28.9 million dollars) in the first half, compared to 51.8 million pounds (67.1 million dollars) in the same period last year.
Group sales in the country have increased by 10%, up to 772.5 million pounds (1 billion dollars). The company has 63 points of sale in the United Kingdom, of its Zara, Massimo Dutti and Bershka chains.
In the first six months, the Spanish giant has carried out a relocation of its points of sale in the British market, where it has expanded its retail space by 7%. The company has explained that it plans to open new stores in the following months.
