Spanish El Corte Inglés gets closer to Asia: launches WeChat Pay as a payment method
The department stores company will integrate this tool as a new payment option in all of its stores, in order to get closer to the eight hundred million users of the Chinese application.
El Corte Inglés, gets closer to Asia. To continue promoting its business within the Asian market, the Spanish company El Corte Inglés now offers WeChat Pay. This more personalized payment service will be available through all its stores and seeks to facilitate different transactions for its customers.
Asian consumers are of great interest to the Spanish department stores company, which has repeatedly invested in the tourist promotion of Asian markets. Among the facilities offered to its customers this new tool, is to make transactions from any point of sale of El Corte Inglés.
WeChat was launched in January 2011 and grew in popularity by the way of bringing together several social platforms within the same application. This mix of messaging, social network and marketplace and means of payment, is currently used by more than eight hundred million users and plans to generate 2 billion euros in sales by 2020.
