Italian fashion sales rise 3.4% in September

The retail sector in the country rose in the ninth month of the year after closing August without variation, according to the latest available data from the Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (Istat).

Italian fashion sales rise 3.4% in September

 

 

Fashion trade in Italy starts the period in shape. Retail sales of apparel in the country rose 3.4% in September compared to the same month last year. The sector is unmarked from August, month in which didn’t register any variation.

 

In the ninth month of the year, footwear and leather goods also registered a positive evolution, with a growth of 4.2%, according to data from the Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (Istat). Perfume and personal care sector, meanwhile, increased its revenues at a slower pace, with a 0.9% rise in September.

 

The sector has registered an uneven evolution so far this year. In January, fashion sales in Italy fell 0.2%, then grew 2.4% in February and slowed down in March, to 0.6%. In April, Italian fashion sales fell again, with a drop of 1.3%, while in May the fall was 4.9%. In June, the sector rose 2.3% to slow the pace in July, with a rise of 1.5%.
