UK retail trade grows 2.2% in September at the gates of Brexit
The sector remains oblivious to political uncertainty and chains four consecutive months on the rise, after raising its sales by 2.6% in August 1.1% in July and 2.8% in June.
The UK retail trade remains oblivious to Brexit. Fashion sales in the country have closed September with a growth of 2.2% compared to the same month of the previous year. The sector chains three consecutive months on the upside.
Compared to the previous month, the specialized trade in textile, clothing, footwear and leather in the United Kingdom rose 1% compared to August 2019. Total retail sales increased both in value and volume, with increases of 3.1% and 3.4%, compared to one year ago. Compared to the previous month, the increase was more moderate, with an advance of only 0.2% in value and a 0.2% drop in volume.
Sales of textiles, clothing and footwear on the Internet in the British market accounted for 18.9% of the total in September. In the ninth month of the year, ecommerce maintained the pulse in the country with an increase of 6.6% over the same month of the previous year.
