Tadashi Yanai is the founder and CEO of Fast Retailing, owner of Uniqlo, Helmut Lang, Theory, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princess tam.tam, GU and J Brand. He was born in the Japanese city of Ube and graduated in Economics and Political Science at the University of Waseda in Japan. In 1984, Yanai began working as president of his father’s clothing chain (which had 22 stores) and opened a store in Hiroshima called Unique Clothing Warehouse, which later changed its name to Uniqlo.
