Chanel looks for a replacement for Karl Lagerfeld inside the group. The right-hand woman of the German designer, will take the reins of the creative direction of the luxury company after Lagerfeld passed away today. Viard had been working with the creative for the past thirty years.

Born in a textile family, the new creative director of Chanel began her career in the fashion business, designing costumes for cinema. In 1987, five years after Lagerfeld took over the design of Chanel, Viard began working with him, first as an apprentice and, later, assuming other responsibilities.

In this last stage, the designer was responsible for coordinating the studies that are made to make haute couture, prêt-à-porter and resort collections. Throughout these three decades in Chanel, Viard has embraced the creative process of Lagerfeld.
