Parsons Paris pays tribute to designer Alber Elbaz

Alber Elbaz receives recognition from Parsons Paris. The former creative director of Lanvin received recognition for his contribution to the fashion industry through Parsons Paris, the French branch of The New School’s Parsons School of Design.

Elbaz received the award from Julie Gilhart, fashion consultant and development director of Tomorrow, in honor of his contribution to fashion over the years. “I ask myself if in this age, in this time, do we still need schools?” questioned the designer in his acceptance speech.

Students of Parsons Paris also displayed their creations at the gala.

In October 2019, Alber Elbaz returned to the fashion business with a joint venture with the Swiss luxury group Richemont, owner of brands such as Cartier or Montblanc, for the development of the AZfashion brand. The designer had also previously collaborated with the Lesportsac accessories company and in 2016 he designed a shoe collection for Converse.

The night continued with a recap of the creations of Parsons and Parsons Paris, along with a live auction, whose benefits will be necessary to conitnue creating more scholarships for future fashion school students.
